Looking advice on a Tokina AT-X 12-24mm f/4 PRO DX II - Canon fit, anyone use/shoot this on a full-frame EOS Canon ??

Any thoughts/experience/advice welcome please. Love to see any photo's shot with this lens.

I use one on my 5D2. Originally bought it for my 7D and was one of my favourite lenses on that - I've taken some of my favourite photos with this lens. When I bought my 5D2 I considered changing it for a 17-40L or 16-35L but after research decided to keep it as its generally regarded as a better performer than the Canon lenses, especially when it comes to corner sharpness. The only downside is that it vignettes before around 17-18mm so it effectively reduces the focal range, but 17mm is very wide on FF!

I can't post any pics taken with it on my 5D2 as I'm on holiday - might be able to check on my Flickr a bit later on.

Thanks Dan, great info. Yea I've heard from around 17/18mm it starts to vignettes on a full-frame etc....

I used to have a 14mm Samyang f/2.8 prime lens but sold it on, found it really too wide on my 5D Mk1 body.

Keep the replies coming.

Any big difference between the Mk1 against the Mk2 Tokina 12-24mm lens I wonder..??

Very good lens - I loved mine on Nikon. Well made and sharp as a tack.

You'd be better off looking at a lens that's design for full frame and not crop sensors though. Why not something like a Sigma 12-24mm or 15-30mm?

I used mk1 on my 1Ds and It was generally a bit sharper than 17-40 - I could actually shoot at f/4 when I needed, but had slightly less color pop and more problems with flare. You should find a few on my flickr (from ~2 years ago)

I have no idea if mk2 is any better or worse but I'd happily see some FF comparison between the two. Until Canon brings out a new improved wideangle zoom this could be something to consider.

mk1, 19mm f/4 and surprisingly sharp
