I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using this lens. I`ve read plenty of reviews and from all accounts it seems a couple of steps ahead of the competition (providing that you can live with the relatively small zoom range, but I`m almost happy to consider this as being a prime).

Surely somebody somewhere must have something negative to say about it. I`d like to hear before I purchase. Currently selling in Japan for about 300 pounds, which I consider to be a good deal.

Thanks

You want some negative comments? OK:
  • Short zoom range
  • Designed for cropped sensors
  • No AFS/USM/HSM
  • Minimum focus distance could be closer
  • Wide sample variation
  • Not too sharp away from centre at f/2.8
  • CA
Not my personal experience, but culled from 22 reviews at Fred Miranda.

Thanks for that. Just what I was looking for. I`m a bit worried by the sample variation comment. Given the rep that Tokina have for build quality I was assuming that this wouldn`t be an issue - this is why I`m staying away from Sigma.

All good points though. Thanks.
