Yes
so i left my house ( hersham, just past guildford) at 9:30 this morning to get to my Nan's funeral in portsmouth at 12:15.

approaching guildford we got held up at an accident that happened just in front of us.
after 3 hours of sitting there we were told to turn around, so i made my way to portsmouth using the diversion and finaly got to the cremetoriam at 1:30 completly missing her funeral and half the wake.
went to the crem and had a look around her lovely flowers then made it round to my dads house where he was hosting the wake, to say i was a little emotional was an understatement:'(

then left there at 4:30pm and went up the a32 then a31 then joined the a3 and once i hit guildford again it took me 2 1/2 to get through totaling my return trip at 3 1/2 hours!! normally only taking 1 hour

what a day!

Oh mate, I feel for you. Missing a realtives funeral, espically and grandparent must be terrible. Have a nice strong drink!

:( You must feel terrible hun. I hope you snuggled up for a nice big, and needed hug tonight from your lady. It's probably just as well you aren't near me right now, else I would probably cause you some injury with the great big bear hug I'd give you :)

At the end of the day, I'm sure where ever your Nan is right now she knows how hard you tried, and she will be so proud of you for trying so hard for her. (((hugs))) I am sorry for your loss.

thanks guys,

my wife was very supportive throughout the day.

and when i saw my dad i burst into tears and have him a big hug while trying to say sorry.

they all fully understood but that doesnt make things better does it.

mid you i was so close to the accident it might well have been me involved , if we never stopped for 30 secs in the services before hand... everything happens for a reason.

anyway for closure of my Nans death my dad has invited me to sprinkle her ashes with the family next week.

The stress in that situation must have been horrendous, I'm glad you're going to be able to make it up to her and yourself. It's a cliche' but time does make things better.

sorry to hear your sad news. im sure you were there in spirit. regards
