Hello all,

Just thought to ask for your opinion on this matter.
I am currently using a MacBook, but a little fed-up with the small screen on it, as well as the brightness changing every time you look at it from another angle.
Otherwise I am very happy with it and it does photo editing fast enough for my needs.

But, there is money let over after Xmas, so if I want I could get the 24" iMac with 2.4Ghz.

Now, what I would like to get opinions about is.
Should I go for the iMac - as I don't really need the extra speed (but I am sure I would enjoy it).
Or should I instead put the money to a nice 24" or 30" screen.

Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanking you very much indeed for your help!

If you're happy with the speed, I would suggest to go for a monitor.

I had the same issue (using a powerbook G4) and I bought a Dell 24" (2407WFP I think). It's really excellent, and I can still pick up my powerbook and take away with me if I need to.

For me it's a much more flexible solution (not to mention cheaper).

I have an iMac which is great. But I think going for the monitor would be a sensible and cheaper option as already mentioned. Unless of course, you want a permanent workstation and a mobile one.

ditto!

I dont think the macbook will work this the 30" apple cinema monitors due to the lack of a graphics cards. How ever it will run the other 2 and from what i have seen they look plenty big enough. If i were you i'd put the money in a memory boost for the Macbook and a nice big monitor with bluetooth mouse nd keyboard.

Thanks guys, I think it is the screen and bit of boost to the memory for the MacBook.

I've also found out that the 30" screen would not work on the MacBook, but then again a 24" screen is plenty enough for me.
