Hi everyone,

I just want to be clear on what I need to fire off a remote camera (50 yards away) when I trigger the shutter release on a hand held camera.

Will two Pocket Wizard Plus II transceivers do the job?

Thanks,

Col

Thanks Mark. I didn't know about those. What are the main differences, do you know? I should have said I will need the shutter speed to be faster than 1/500.

OK, having done a little research any shutter speed restrictions will only relate to off camera flash and the RF-602s seem to stack up well against the pricey PWs. Will I need any extra cables (for Canon 1D) or do they come with the package?

Thanks again.

Some packages come with a cable, others need a camera cable, I got mine on ebay for about a fiver. Put the transmitter on the hotshoe of the camera to be handheld, the receiver on the remote camera with a cable into the cable release slot, robert's your father's brother.

Can I ask what you're up to with them? Sounds an unusual requirement.

Not too unusual hopefully. I do football games and want to set up a remote camera behind the goal and shoot from the sideline. Will I need just 1 transmitter and 1 receiver?

The newer RF-603's transceviers are now available. I've just ordered a couple of sets off Ebay which came with a 'free' cable. They are a little bit more expensive than the 602's though.

Do you need one camera to fire another, or would a normal wireless remote do the job?

It needs to be fired from a camera, so I can catch the same action from different angles.

Go to the 'talk sport' subforum, there's been some discussion about this very topic for behind the goal remotes.

basic consensus is that rf602s work fine, but aren't ideal (fiddly connectors etc), but do work well.
