I was covering an indoor hockey tournament in Edinburgh today.
Between sessions I was sitting at the back of the press area, editing some shots, when the German team which was warming up managed to lob a ball off the end wall and onto the press table.

Ouch! :D

On the plus side, your local PC repair bod should be able to fix that for £100-150ish.

Thanks Mark, that's about what I was thinking, just a screen, the casing still fits together.

This is becoming an expensive month!

I replaced the panel in my GF's Acer Aspire last year.

Pretty easy. Replacements on eBay but I would get a quote from your local shop (as Demilion says).

If it any consolation I smashed the screen on my Dell Streak 5" phone for the THIRD time a few weeks ago.

Then whilst taking it apart before I ordered a new screen I snapped a ribbon cable. So it's garbage now :shake:

Not being a smart arse, but that's exactly why I'd always get a shop to do it (as you said).

If you don't have the schematics breaking something is way too easy! : D

I had the video and have done it before. Just cocked it up...

Now looking for a cheap (ish) replacement for now.

I was going to say its only a pc dont fret but then decided not to

You're right Carol, it's only a pc. I had a laugh about it the next morning while winding up the German player who caused the damage.
At least the ball didn't hit my head, or my 70-200!

Do a search on YouTube on how to replace the screen.
Easy enough to do yourself.

You do need to know how to operate a screw driver though.

You can see in the photos on the screen, the plastic covers where some of the screws are.

The main thing is the ribbon cable that is attached at the back of the screen, other than that it's just care taking it apart and putting it back together.

Ouch! Lucky it wasn't a mac though

If it had been a mac the screen wouldnt have broken - instead the computer would have automativcally flipped its top and sent the ball back - then later it would have scored the winning goal, got the girl, and saved the world.... and made the tea .....................or something like that

LOL Pete.
