Hi there, i'm a keen photographer, just started out shooting local football games. I really enjoy doing it, helps when you like football and used to play it ;)

Has anyone got any tips as i've been just learning myself at the moment. I've a Nikon D3100 with a Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR lens to shoot the games with. I would eventually like to shoot a higher level of football (semi pro) Anyone know how to get the ball rolling?

Here's a couple of pics that i took on Sunday morning. Tell me what you think, both shot in Manual mode, always prefer to experiment.

they are all right...and there lies your problem... your face on.. you ahve the ball in the picture.. but they are boring.. football is 90 minutes and usualy has some peak action.. a tackle, a goal, a celebration ?

Thanks for your feedback, i have a few more action pics just put a couple on for example. I tend to miss all the action near the goal as everytime i get up an move position i miss everthing lol. Maybe i shoud be more patient :)

Never move.. it's called "chasing the game" and you really shouldn't do that... move at half time if needed but not while the game is on... thats your first tip :)

When someone scores a goal forget the ball going into the net shot, zoom in on the scorer and his reaction for a change.Keep your lens set as wide as you can to blur the background f4.5 in your case. Also sit on a stool to keep yourself low down. It is difficult to get shots like you see of pro footballers that is because amateurs are not as fast and agile.Keep practicing and you will improve.
