I have an Epson 4990 photo.
Does anyone have any recommendations for scanning positives. Settings etc to be used.
Would be nice if they were scanned at 6x7 format as a print.

Don't particularly have any recommendations for settings but I often scanned at the highest DPI available to you & resized my work within Adobe Photoshop for my portfolio at college last summer. I was pretty pleased with the results? Best wishes.

I wouldn't scan any higher than 2400 dpi, unless it's a 'professional' scanner. That's generally the point where they stop getting more actual image data in order to increase the resolution and start just guessing what should be there (interpolation). It could be lower than that though, depending on the sensor, optical equipment and the motor and how it's controlled.

A quick google for your scanner says around 1600-2400, so basically just try as much as you want and see what works for you. As for colours, i don't know of any settings you could change as such... some are quite accurate, some are completely off. Usually nothing a bit of touching up in PP can't fix, and that doesn't really count as cheating since it's just compensating for defects. I mean, it's boring but it's up to you ;)
