Its come around to renew my web-hosting etc for my own personal site.
I build and maintain the site myself, based on the old MobileMe platform from Apple, which used iWeb and independant hosting etc. Its labour intensive and needs external plug in (most of which no longer work), but its a good online presence.
I had a dabble with SmugMug a while back, and found it clunky and restrictive, however the additional benefits, such as built in synchornisation with Lightroom, Facebook etc, built in contact form and tie in with suppliers for selling prints is a strong point.
My own website costs me around £7/8 to run and SmugMug isnt too much more at around £11 if paid yearly. Whilst I dont sell prints, its something I get asked frequently for.
I dont have any photography on my site, as I post more to instagram and facebook, but I definitely want to change that.
If I'm going to jump ship i need to decide soon.
I would be interested to hear other's feedback as to what they use and pro's/cons.
Cheers,
