I saw a thread a little while ago where someone was looking for a way of doing time-lapse without needing to be tethered to a computer, I've had a look for the thread in question but can't find it.
Anyway, I just saw this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Timer-Shutter...der_Remotes&hash=item25612d1534#ht_3838wt_932) and it reminded me of the thread, so if it was you and didn't get resolved, that little doo-dad should do the job, there's different ones on there for different cameras.
