Hi all,

Hope your all well, it's been a while since I have frequented here regularly!

I have been a bit slack and not had a vast amount of photography going on in the last few months. Due to a whole host of reasons ranging from other hoobies taking up my time, work etc etc.

As a result it has left me somewhat flat and uninspired. What a pick me up I had yesterday though!!

A while back at work (Oct 2010), as a favour to my Boss, I took a pano of our workshop floor. He wanted it as it was the busiest we had been and with orders slowing felt it was worth a photo. So I went all out and stiched together a a multi shot pano for him. Unfortunately I can't post the photo, due to the restrictions that are in place on our type of work.

Anyhow, it seems he has been showing people, ie his boss etc. I now have now been asked if I'd do some promo shots for our product too. I'm double chuffed!! It's only a small thin really, but it's lifted me.

even if they don't get used, the buzz that people like my work is great, and it's reinspired me to get the camera out more again. I even plan on having a crack at the comps that run on here!

Shameful boasting over anyway!

Rob

Well done.
Always nice to get the feedback that people like your efforts.

Remember that if your product shots are acceptable you will be saving them time and money so it may be worth reminding them how expensive your hobby is. You can then drop a big hint that a new speedlight or similar would be gratefully received as a token of appreciation

I'd love too, but that would be very unlikely to happen unfortunately. Ah well.

You never know, they may want shots that require some lights, so could try and blag a set for them to "own" and me to "look after"! ........................I wish!!

Worked for me. I started doing the odd product shot, bought a lighting kit, appropriated a room as a studio.

About 80% of the shots on our website are now mine and in product literature as well.
Works for both of us. I get a studio to use and get to do photography in work times or out of hours.

Nice one Byker!

I can't see the studio area happening to me but maybe manage to keep taking photos for the company at least. Mainly because our product is huge and unmovable!

Well done, should be good fun. I notice you have a GX-10. I have a GX1L which I love, what lenses are you using with your GX10 and did you use it for the pano shot?

Cheers
ped

EDIT forget that I just looked in your 'camera bag'. I also have the 18-55, 50-200 and a Pentax fixed 50

Hi Ped

I used the fixed 50 for the pano and took 8 shots. I stitched them together with some software but can't remember the name. I'll look tonight for you.

I don't use the 20-200 much anymore, I favout the 70-300mm Tamron Ihave, but it bridges the gap between 55 & 70 every once in a while.

The Tamron 90mm Macro is a super lens too.

Good for you fella! That's a nice uplifting post :)

Thanks all. I've used it as an excuse to get some extra triggers from Flash In The Pan :D

Its certainly stirred up the old passion again. I'll be doing the shoot later this week so will let you know how it goes. It's annoying that I can't post any for crit, but it's sensitive stuff.
