That is a fail... If a guardsman is standing correctly to attention he should collapse forwards. See: Guardsman Fracture.

I do 90% of my photography with:
Sigma 10-20
35mm
50mm
And the vast majority is with the 35mm lens now.

In full frame terms they look like (very roughly).
15-30mm
50mm
75mm

So I'd carry a 24mm, 50mm, 85mm for what I normally do. I'm not a fan of the area between wide and normal, I find shots taken at the 35mm equivalent quite boring personally. I prefer having to get in close to frame it with a 24mm or the more natural framing of 50mm.

When I upgrade to full frame my kit will probably be more like 14-24mm, 50mm, 85mm. The 14-24 is an amazing lens and replaces primes as far as I'm concerned. I'd probably buy the best 50mm I could, seeing as that's the 35mm equivalent focal length I use the most.

I only have one prime the EF 100mm 2.8 Macro fro my crop sensor camera, if I won the lotto I get the 35mm 1.4 L and the 300mm 2.8

Then again if I won the lotto it would be a 1Ds full frame so swap the 35 for a 50 1.2 L

It's all horse for course, and as I do NO portraits I don't need any thing in the 50 - 85 mm range.

300mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
150mm 2.8 macro.

bliss :)
