Those who DON'T use Lightroom & Photoshop - graphics cards?

Just spent the last couple of evenings researching parts & ordering bits for a new build (and spent enough money for a weeks holiday) but graphics cards have me a bit stumped. At the moment they're just STUPIDLY overpriced - ideally I'd build with a RTX3060, but I'm not willing to spend >£500 right now, and even a GTX1650 with 4GB is £200+.

So those of you processing on non-Adobe software, what GPUs are you using and how well do they work for you?

The build:
Ryzen 7 3800X
MSI Tomahawk X570
Crucial 32GB 3200 C16 RAM
2TB WD black NVME
6TB WB blue storage drive
Fractal case
Re-use a 550W modular PSU

It's a trade off between performance and expenditure, but the mobo should have good upgrade potential if required.

Affinity and topaz Denise AI both run smooth on my 2600x and rx580 8gb combo, never maxing out either

I am using an RTX4000 and use exclusively DXO PL4 now. It handled the 50mp 5dsr and 645z files supremely and the 100mp GFX100 files I've played with didn't cause too much issue. It seemed slightly tardier but it still handled in a responsive manner.

Because I am a thoroughly impatient man who likes to go between 100% and scaled view toggling adjustments on and off and get instant responses I'd either pop in another 128gb of RAM or go for the RTX5000 or do both. I won't tolerate much more than a few seconds delay for any operation.

You use On1 I believe - it is multi threaded so can utilise all the cores/threads and GPU power in a machine.

I use a very high spec machine as you know though.

Thanks both. My largest files are only 24mp, so hopefully I can manage for a while with the roughly 4x boost this build will give over my i7 system.

I have an AMD RX560 4GB graphics card which runs On1 and Affinity photo with no problems on Ryzen3800 system.
However, despite many new drivers being released by AMD in the past few weeks, I keep getting blank screens, followed by an AMD report screen, when browsing the web with both Firefox and MS Edge browsers, to the point that I have been looking at replacing my graphics card with an NVIDIA video card. However, loads of the NVIDIA cards are labelled as "coming soon" with no prices shown, so it looks like they are victims of the worldwide chip shortage, with no projected date for availability.

It'll be fine for 24mp and probably ok for 45mp - but maybe not 61mp. If you have no intention of shooting with the A7RiV it'll be fine, and if you do it's a RAM and GPU upgrade away. 24mp doesn't tax a machine too heavily, 36 quite a bit more and 50mp killed my similar spec system before I went for the beast

Just missed a 3060ti FE on Scan for £380.

Mine should be arriving on Friday. If I accidentally managed to grab one you should have a reasonable chance to grab it next week. Hopefully this will be enough of an upgrade over 2060 despite having just barely more RAM.

I completed payment before it went OOS. :P
