This weekend where you at 28/08/10

Ill start the ball rolling, i,m having the week off from the RL but might take in a Cricket match

I'm having a weekend off from Football in order to keep myself fresh with it, actually not covering footie until Sept 18th due to international break and a holiday.

Athletics on the Saturday (UK Athletics Challenge Final) in Cardiff and Castle Combe motorsport on the Monday. Not too much of a taxing weekend.

Taking the van to Cornwall, camping with the rest of the family, catching some surf and generally chilling out. So I guess I'll catch a few surf shots of all the people better than me, maybe a few candids on the beach.

Which reminds me, must get the camera kit ready tonight for the trip.

A weekend with the upper classes then? Nice.

I enjoyed Drumclog last week, was really pleased with some of the pics I got at my first attempt. Felt a bit out of place though, not having any tweed or Barbour to wear....

My weekend will be quiet too, before all the international hockey matches during next week. Maybe find a local rugby game on Saturday, or perhaps I'll just watch Dave McLeod on the telly.

Asterix, I don't know you, but I've got kids (and a grandkid) so best wishes from me too.

was at accy v newcastle tonight, then port vale saturday then cricket sunday

behind goal or along main stand?

I say hi to everyone... very friendly me :) and yes i was busy... but would have liked to speak.. are you the shy type or summat... yeagh phil.. too much hair :)

yeah along main stand, then behind the goal. Definatly not the shy type me, waffle on for ages about nothing, ill butt in and have a chat next time tony :)

So chris and phil.. what did you think of our super duper updated floodlights? thats sarcasm BTW.... That was the first night match since floodlights upgraded and it was darker than last season around the goal area :(

they should have given everyone a torch in the crowd, would have been brighter, in the 2nd half it was pretty much unshootable as it was so dark near the goals!! would have got a cracking 3rd goal shot of the volley if it wasnt so dark!!

Just out of interest Tony, what was your mkIV pushing the ISO at?! And how did it perform?

I'm looking at my balance sheets and hopefully will have enough cash by Xmas to buy a mkIV. :D

Not going to happen Mr Coyle.

Now that i've got the lens/body combo sorted beautifully I no longer have Nikon pangs. If I get the mkIV in the new year (so 12 months after release - ergo cheaper and with kinks ironed out) then I'll gladly do the same with Canon at Elstree as it's just beautifully sharp.

The only thing I'm missing now is a bit of the uprated ISO that the mkIV has over the mkIII. I noticed it at the floodlit cricket on monday. Above ISO2000 :gag: on mkIII. My schedule includes a 5:15pm KO in October at a rugby ground, so any extra ISO "headroom" would be nice. It's only going to continue in the new year, so might as well invest.

Dropped my 400 and mkiv into canon yesterday to get them matched. I used the mkiv for the first time under lights on Tuesday but didnt go above iso 2000. Before getting teh mkiv i tried the 5d MK11 at a night game to test the quality at high ISO (not the same camera i know but thought it would give a good indication) and i was pretty happy with what came out at ISO 6400

But it's a right royal pain and not acceptable that you spend many thousands on gear and even if its brand new you have to spend even more money to get them calibrated, the trouble i found when i got my Canon 300 and MK3 body calibrated was that the camera was fairly useless when i put another lens on it. :bang: have you tried your calibrated camera/lens on another camera/lens to check.

erk now at cricket and a blues festival on sat.. no oxford with accy... cant say i am bothered about the coach trip ... but no footy this weekend so far :(

local papers wait until thur or fri to sort jobs out..its a pain :(

If its nice and sunny, at local cricket, if not ****ed in local pub

Yes I had a lovely purple check shirt on, and lots of hair.. about to ring round for a hair cut.. sooner the better eh? :p

The lights were terrible, the only place I've ever been to with light fall off in the centre of the pitch :D

As per the thread title, I'm at Man City v Timisoara tonight, a day off tomorrow, Blackburn v Arsenal on Saturday (with a request to Man U v West Ham put in too for a double header!) and Bolton v Birmingham on Sunday. Oh, with an 18th party to snap afterwards :)

Indeed I have and it worked fine for me...I even asked about the AF Microadjustment. They get rid of the setting for the matched lens, meaning it would have an AF microadjust of 0...you can still set adjustments for other lenses without any problems, which I've done and it works.

£60 for me to get it matched, which in hindsight isn't that much, and even if I had 2 bodies matched it still would be cheaper than the losses I'd make swithcing to Nikon.

GEEZ i was at ISO 6400 last night and it was still dark and gloomy.
I guess thats what the little (s) on the end of the D3 is all about

I think I only really got 1 useable shot out of the 2nd half. The Newcastle fans were lit better than the goal we were sat at.

i went to iso 12800 for goalmouth :)

I ahve been onto the club today and they agreed it was patchy.. I reiterated it was darker than last season in front of goal.. They have copied my email along wiht a strongly worded email of there own to the floodlight contractor...

I ahve offered to go test before the night home night match
