Ive always wanted to be able to juggle. So I set a family challenge, the first of us to learn to juggle 3 balls for 3 rotations wins a fiver.

I've watched a few vidoes and reckon the fiver is mine.

After an hours practice, I realise it's not as easy as it looks :)

Cheers.

Practice facing about a foot from a wall. It makes you juggle vertically rather than off vertical which makes it difficult!

Get a set of those small juggling balls, it makes it very easy to learn. Then you can move on to balls, apples, oranges, etc which makes the shopping trip more fun :D

Then try a 2 and 1, 2 same size and 1 smaller. This will test your agility and improve your skill.

I have fun with balls in my hand and the juggling just gets better :exit:

I taught myself to juggle while I should have been revising for my A levels... :$

Not too bad if you studying physics :)

Well I reckon that's your photo 52 for this week sorted anyway :D

OOoooo, missed that idea .

Cracking idea.

Bought some doggy chew balls. Got a blooming headache already :rage:

Blackadder sprang to mind, [Blackadder is about to be shot]

Corporal Perkins: "Well, Captain, I've got to admire your balls."

Captain Blackadder: "Perhaps later." :)

I taught myself in about 30 minutes. First, get hold of 3 petanque balls - yup, French boules, the heavy steel ones. Start with 2 in your dominant hand, throw one up and towards the opposite side. As it reaches its peak, toss the ball in the other hand in the opposite direction, catch the first in the just emptied hand. Repeat! ALWAYS remember that if a ball falls on your toes it will cause damage and should you toss one too high and fail to catch it, it will hurt more, even more so should it strike your cranium. Well, that worked for me!

Probably safer to use proper bean bag balls rather than boules, although they provide less incentive not to drop them on your toes. Try to keep the throws all the same strength so you build up a nice smooth rhythm. Maybe try juggling 2 balls in one hand to get used to throwing and catching in quick succession, then once the dominant hand can manage that, swap hands. 4 ball juggling (at its most basic) is just 2 balls in one hand with both hands at the same time - stagger the throws/catches and it looks a lot harder, although simultaneous in each hand is actually a lot harder than that!

As Phil said, 2+1 makes things a little more interesting, I used to do a crash helmet, a £1 coin and a bunch of keys and have appeared on TV doing a club, a ring and a ball while chatting to the interviewer (not done much for the past few years though - kinda lost concentration skills for a few years when my brain tumour was growing!)

Keep at it and it will happen!

Throw the first ball up then try not to drop them all! Believe me, the thought of what damage a boule would do if I dropped one on my toes was a big incentive to keeping them up.
