That is quite something and I think the effect is enhanced because of the 'relief' red painted areas to add to the illusion that the window frame has depth.
We learnt a lot of these things in the sixth form, more than fifty years ago!
That was because our headmaster had a bee in his bonnet about "psychology being essential for the modern world". Still it was only one period a week and, if you developed the right approach, you could could get a start on some important homework, while perpetrating the optical illusion that you were making copious notes on this important subject!
