I am currently a Pentax user, but having looked recently to purchase a couple of lenses I've realised how limited I am now Sigma no longer support the K mount.

My current set up is;
Pentax K5iis
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8
Pentax 50mm f1.8

And I am looking to purchase a decent zoom lens (at least 450mm) and a macro lens.

If I were to switch brands, what would be the best direction to go in? I'm happy to purchase 2nd hand.

My main focus is wildlife/birds but also interested in getting into macro for flowers/insects.

Many Thanks!

For wildlife i would recommend m4/3. A m4/3 lens at 400 mm is a full-frame equivalent of 800 mm. Olympus has a very loyal following on here (see the relevant thread) and the quality obtainable from some of their lenses is astonishing. I'm not quite convinced it is the right choice for landscapes though.

I switched to olympus this time last year due to heart problems combined with creeping old age . if you look in the olympus thread in this section there are lots of mine and others shots of wildlife and macro images that basically speak for themselves .camera bodies tend to be a bit pricier initially (but do a hell of a lot more) but lenses are a lot lot cheaper and lighter than any of the opposition
