Hi all now that Christmas has past i have decided to make the change from Canon to Nikon.

I have had this rattle about in my head for a while, I have been looking at some shots taken With my Nikon with the same lens and SORRY but i just prefer the Nikon for colours and the likes straight out the camera.

My question is though should i sell my kit as a package deal of should i split and sell.

I'm hoping to sell what i have and replace with the nikon mounts.

well i was thinking a bundle to save running back and forth to post office/dhl

Hmmm, do you think its the brand that makes the difference in the final image?

That sounds like you've already got Nikon and Canon? You just going to settle on the Nikon?

part of it's feeling comfortable with the kit you're using. Part of it's a subjective preference for the results from the camera. Neither in themselves make you a better photographer but if you feel you've got the right kit you'll not have that "I wish" feeling.

^ true, I wonder if its all psychological though? I have a friend who uses solely Nikon stuff, and I have to say having used it (and him mine) apart from the ergonomics of the kit itself, we find that his photos taken on my canon kit (with the equivalent same lenses) look the same as his when taken on his Nikon kit and vice versa!

No i used to own Nikon but had to sell up a while back due to some personal reason, I bought the Canon some time back used just to get me back out and about.

I do think the brand makes the image what it is in the end, im just using this as my guide if this makes sense. I don't have much time for the photo edit side of things and i just feel that my Nikon shots are more what i want.

then if that's what you "feel"......is actually very important

I tried my brothers Canon EOS 1000D....mmmmm...picked up a D40 and loved it.

not trying to teach you to suck eggs....but.. having bought a D40, I wish I had a Nikon with in-camera AF as my choice of lens is restricted - and expensive

I think some of it certainly is. I've just made the same change and there's definitely a different feel to the images nikon produces straight out of the camera.

I'm bound to say it but personally I'm pleased I've gone through with it. How much of that is self justification I'm not sure.

I agree, it's subjective - I think my Nikon feels nicer than the old Canon but over the last few days I have been convinced that the pics side of things is only a matter of processing - both in camera and post.
