thinking of a new lens (lens??)

well the question is as follows i have seen this bit of kit

and its rather a decent price i know it wouldnt auto focus on my d40 but is this a good lens (lens) and is it worth putting my hand in my pocket for?

Yep for the money its a fantastic lens..feels rather cheap and plasticky but the results are stunning..

not only that i'd also agree i got 1 a few weeks ago from jacobs * 79.99 .

it does feel cheap & plasticky and as you say wont autofocus on a D40 but i'ts a stonker of a lens.

great i shall definatly invest in one i shall be using it on a tripod for potraits and group photos so having to manual focus isnt an issue

just hope im using it for the right kind of pictures lol

just be very careful when focusing as the depth of field at f1.8 is amazingly shallow.
