There was a great phone in today on radio city 96.7fm, it was about things that you dont see any more, one bloke rang in and said that you dont see rag and bone men anymore, then a woman rang in and said that you dont see white dog poo anymore...what is that all about?..but I cant remember the last time I saw white dog poo..is there anything else that we dont see anymore?

Police walking the streets in villages :exit:

use to in the village I use to live in. They just seem to drive through this village I am in.

erm....as for other things....Mars Bar adverts, not seen one of them for AGES.

I see police walking around here sometimes, and PCSO's. And neighbourhood wardens. And I live on the outskirts of Manchester :D

As for white dog poo. It's largely down to two things.
A : Their diet. They used to be fed on things like bones, and scraps from the table / butchers etc. Now a dogs meal is largely tinned / processed food.
also, B : It isn't left on the streets long enough to turn white.

Well around here ... you never see kids walking to school, all cars & buses.

I havent seen a woman pushing a pram in years ... fandangled buggies but no prams!

Cant remember the last time I saw one of those fullsize RSPA dog/cat charity boxes outside a shop door.
I suspect there are some around still ... I just havent seen them.

Setting lotion ... I remember my mother used to get her hair done once a week and it would stink like wee for days

Changes in the content of dog food is the reason why. White poo was due to food high in bone meal.

Don't know about Texan Bars, but Marathons and Opal Fruits have changed their names.
I miss ten bob notes :D

Conkers
Bus conductors
Knife sharpeners
Punch and Judy shows
Sally Army Bands

Public floggings.

Pity really, I think they would do this country a world of good.

1) tab clear
2) blue sky :p
3) pound notes
4) half pennies
5) mullets (well mostly)
6) 80's shoulder pads

Horse manure down the middle of the road!

Me dad used to give me a bucket and shovel and send me out to collect it for the rhubarb. How far would I have to walk now before I filled the bucket?

Pritt Stick, Astro Wars and kids using the excuse, Sorry my watch stopped, when back from the park late by 5 minutes :)

Now I know us up north are behind the times but :

If you were REALLY good, mum let you keep the 5p you got back for each bottle too...oh, and after Alpine, we had Barr for a while before it stopped altogether :D

The road safety adverts with the stuffed dressed animal puppets...see, its old age, I can't remember their names :help: oh and the 'cartoon' safety ones for kids too, 'charlie says'

EDIT: Tufty Fluffytail was the main character in the road safety ones, and while we are on the subject, what happened to the green cross code man? [YES< I know, He became darth vader or somesuch]

 you can get space dust again, but I think they renamed that too, but my kids have had it, real blast form the past!

Another thing, women in headscarfs [apart from the queen when relaxing at Balmoral], and better, women on headscarfs with their rollers in their hair underneath

Davenports home-delivered beer.
Glees (renamed Tutti-Frutti then disappeared..)
Zoom ice-lollies.
Sherbet dips in the yellow cardboard tubes (with the odd-tasting red lolly, not the liquorice one)
Flying Saucers (the sherbet ones)
Side-streets with no cars parked in them (went back to my old childhood haunts last year and the biggest shock was the number of cars parked bumper-to-bumper in what were totally empty streets when I was a kid).
Letters written by friends for fun (now all email).

Glees (renamed Tutti-Frutti then disappeared..)

I used to love them, they're now called Skittles as I discovered a few months back when one of my kids had some.

What else...

Spangles
Thruppenny bits
Half a crown (reminds me of my Grandfather)
Cross ply tyres
Returning the empty lemonade bottles to the shop to get the deposit back, usually 1d
