I agree it is an amazing image but in the quote he atributes it to "the light". The light may have been great but what makes it particularly excellent is the cloud formations amongst the peaks and the very low level mistiness.

Agreed, along *with* the light on the peaks. If I mask off the peaks with my hand the foreground is just dull texture, but if i mask off the grasses then the peaks themselves leap out of the image for me. The mist & cloud are the icing on the cake.
And the arctic fox - (not polar fox) - I've been to Greenland and they can often be incredibly tame. Picture editors and competition judges don't seem to realise that........
