After all the bad stories we have had on here lately I had to tell you a nice one. When I went to see my 90 year old mother in law in hospital this evening the other ladies pointed out a snowman that one of the nurses had built, during her lunch hour, for her because mother in law had said she wished they could have one.Thats real quality care, and in the NHS too.:)

too right. Top Quality Sue.

Especially with all the moaning that goes on about the NHS - the people rapidly forget that there are REAL people working in the hospitals and care facilities - all working way over the hours that they should... all for relatively no thanks and lotso abuse.

Top notch to hear someone has had a positive experience n good on the staff taking the time to make someone smile.

Sweet.

Good job the medical students didn't volunteer...

I used to work for the NHS and know that it certainly fouls up at times but the care my MIL has received in this little cottage hospital has been excellent. Its pretty well run by nurses, with just the odd doctor popping in.Its closing in a month or so. Typical.

I'm a community Mental Health Nurse with the NHS and i've worked with many colleagues that will go the extra mile, we entered the job because we care and we care about people. Great post Ladysue and lets hear more positive stories about the essence of the NHS, in fact lets all focus on the positives of life and not get hung up on the negatives

As long as it is not the snowman in the glamour section! That would give her a shock. Al

The cottage hospitals are the best, I had my son in Peterhead hospital in Scotland (32 miles above Aberdeen) and my son and I received top quality care, I think it's because they have more time to spend with patients than in the bigger haospitals.

Fantastic story!!!!

Thats great! Credit to the nurse for taking the time. Lovely thing to do.

Kev.

My FIL died on the tuesday after Christmas after about 3 weeks in a huge NHS hospital in Norwich.

I can't praise the nurses there enough. They were absolutely fantastic, caring and always had time to discuss my father-in-laws condition.
