Hi folks, I hope all is well.

I've got an M50 mk ii with the canon adapter. Will this lens work with it?

Is it a decent lens for the money, it's circa £340? I believe it is an old model, but from what I can see online it seems okay.

I have the M specific 28 mm macro but wondered if this sigma would be a good alternative?

I appreciate any heads up you may provide.

Can I ask a silly question @Mike.P ?

I assume the benefit of these larger 100 mm lenses is that I don't have to sit on the bug / flower / object like I do with the small 28 mm one I have. I find I have to be so close to the bee or insect with the M lens. Assume I can be a little further away with these larger lenses?

Thanks.

I have a shop local(ish) to me that I can go into and have a chat / view it, or there is good old Amazon who can get it to me tomorrow with almost 10% off. Choices lol

The only thing I have found with Amazon is that Sigmas 3 year warranty sometimes doesn't apply. Amazon tend to import from wherever it's cheapest be it Germany, Spain, Italy or wherever and Sigma are very strict about it having to come from the UK if you want to register it for the guarantee.

True, to be honest I purchased the camera, adapter and one lens from John Lewis. The other macro lens I purchased was via Amazon, but a shop in Wales and they sent a receipt etc. I've not registered anything online, should I? I just kept all the boxes and paperwork as John Lewis offer a two year warranty

It's only Sigma that offers the 3 years so any Canon gear is better covered by the JL 2 year warranty. If you buy through Amazon register it on the Sigma web site straight away and they will tell you if its a UK lens or import. If they don't let you register it then you have to decide which is more important, the 3 year warranty from the local shop or 10% discount. :)

Well I ordered it and it should be here tomorrow :)

Excited as I have really enjoyed the Macro stuff so far and this should make life a little easier.

Macro is never easy whatever gear you use

Yes I purchased it from WEX and registered for the three year warranty which was nice. I'm out Sunday at a butterfly farm / place which will be the first time I try it really bar a few test shots around the house. Seems to work nicely and is actually the same lens my brother has for his Nikon. Fingers crossed it will be a nice little purchase for me.

I had the older version. They double as a nice portrait lens
