So the Rugby World Cup got under way last night with a disappointing game for France, loosing 17-12 to Argentina  They never seemed to settle into the game and seemed unable to cope with the expectation on them for a home win.

So how do we rate England's chances of retaining the cup? Who do you think are likely to be World Champions in 6 weeks time? Best players? Worst players?

Lets discuss...........:D

Best player bar none is Daniel Carter.

What about 'Seabass' last night, he makes the Honeymonster look small. Shame he dosen't use his rugby brain a bit more like he does when playing for Sale.

Englands only hope is Wilko, and believe you me, his knee is targeted by everyone. To be honest, I dont see them winning, possibly semi's.

Ireland (i'm irish by the way) had their glory back in the six nations where they underperformed. They need to pull something out of the bag, quick.

Now though, I'm off to play Sudbury, hot, sunny and dry ground,... love iiiiit!

King.

Early days yet but the Kiwis looked formidable today, so far they are by far the best side. Regards Jim

:agree: The looked unstoppable at times

Well here's to all teams but S.A.!

Too much damn politics involved so may any team BUT S.A. take it!

Cheers guys

Yes, they claim it to be a sport.

A sport played by 30 or so guys in desperate need of a break and watched by thousands in desperate need of SOME EXERCISE!!

:lol::bonk::naughty:

:rules: would like to see 22 footballers go through what we do.

Oh my... why, that's even worse than football or streetball ;)

Nothing can be worse than tartbool (ie: football).

Now,.... dont get me started,... Ill rant and rave for hours and bite all the bate.

Sits down, ices neck after tough game in the second row today with a cider, banana and pizza on order.

:bonk:Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen,or a gentlemans game played by thugs . you decide me i love it.

Your almost right;) Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen.....Football is a gentlemans game played by thugs!!

Politics dictate that we must have 4 players "of colour" on the field at all time.

Next year it has to be 6...

What happened to ability - I have no problem with skin colour except when there is no ability with it:gag:

Must agree here!!

How did your game go?

Can't seem to get the hang of this multiquote thing so for responses please read inside your quote...

Apparently totally overpaid thugs at that!:gag:

How did your game go?

It was ok. Our club has had a couple of tough seasons with low numbers and for some reason this year we have managed to field two teams. I ran out for the seconds yesterday as they were short of players (played prop, first half,... not doing that again). The side is built up of new and young players so the learning curve for them is quite huge. The forwards obviously had myself and 7 experienced old heads so the ball was won most if not all times. Unfortunately though, once it came down to the back line the lack of experience and confidence showed. It was lost quite a lot and the opposition ran circles around the new guys. Eventually the score came out 51-19 to Sudbury.
The main thing for the second team is for them to gain experience and there is no better way than running out against well drilled teams.
I wa quite chuffed though, got Man of the Match .

King.

EDIT: 1000 posts!

:thumbs:Glad you enjoyed it! Havn't played it myself since I was 12 or so!:D

And CONGRATS on 1000 posts!!:thumbs::thumbs:

The US played well. They should be chuffed with yesterday. England under estimated them me thinks.

I hope that's all it was 'cause if we play like that against SA we're gonna get stuffed :gag:

Guys I don't understand why you are scared of the S.A. team.

But for the odd recent exception they have not played an 80 minute game for a very long time!

Also, they can't seem to adapt their game-plan if it does not work the first 5 times:cuckoo:

I think they are playing Samoa today...:D

I just hope Wales don't underestimate Canada today. Maybe we need some more players like my Heather... see here... :)

Wales WHO???

:D:D:D

O.K. Seriously...:suspect:

What the hell is going on with Samoa??

DOH!!! ON ME

2003 game being shown:bonk::bonk::bonk:

Wales 42 Canada 17: Nice win there for Wales... next for us is the big one, against the Wallabies in Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. At least I shall be home for that one.

Samoa have lost the fire in their bellies second half. Shame as there were a few fists flying about first half.

59-7

Must have been Samoa's 3rd team.

Good to see S.A. played a full game for a change!

I didn't see it, just heard reports about it from my wife and son. Was it really that bad...? Some people's opinion on Stephen Jones is varied too!

After watching most of this weekends matches I cannot see any of the European teams winning the world cup. England, Wales and Ireland have been shown up badly and we all know what happened to France.

Well done the the minnows who have put up good games against much better opposition. I think the IRB have done well to sponsor coach's for the smaller nations as their performance have been above par because of this

Gotta feel for Robinson not the way to end your career, englands best player by tonight.
