So, as the run up to the games gather speed,
we are all bound to have an opinion one way or another on the games.
Do you feel that its a waste of time and money?
Or can't you just generally be arsed to watch it,
knowing damn well that its going to displace at least one of your favourite reality shows,
such as ice skating on a celebrity in the jungle.

Well, this is the place to have a whinge and a bitch

I went that way recently and never thought about the road works being down to the games :(

Looking to close my business down for the summer to avoid all the hassle of getting to work and getting stuff to work. Long holiday, a long way away for me please. Can't see much direct benefit to me at all. Enjoy it everyone else.

Mr Cobra, to celebrate my return after a long absence from these here parts, I hereby endorse this 'Bah humbug Olympics' thread.

What I think and have always thought about it =

Should have let the French have it. :p

The pointless espense, the mostly non-legacy, permanent community/social displacement, more cash being thrown at large multinationals.. no doubt a few more civil liberties to be trampled in the name of "terrorism".. ..
:exit:

It would be nice to take a few pictures, ja, fat chance. Hate to appear so bitter but I wholly agree.

Bloody hell Mr Rabbit, long time no hear, I thought you'd ended up in a stew or something :p

Welcome back

Well they do seem to grab alot of other stuff ;)

Only compensation I can see re: the imminent "extended sports day" is that at least all the upheaval and probably any terrorist stuff should be confined to unimportant end of the country. Can't see there being any traffic problems up here while it's on :)

a few weeks of hell, surrounded by several months of the same... :bang:

Had enough of it already!!

The missus and her team at work are supplying/testing all of the merchant credit/debit card terminals for the Olympic venues so she'd had enough by this time last year!

They're digging up some major roads around my way for the Mountain Biking event (A13) which is royally screwing up the road I use to go to/from work.

When the Mountain Biking is going on I dread to think of the carnage that's going to happen on the local road........ Could anyone up north take me in for a few weeks 'til it all passes

Going to make the commute to work a pain in the rear and I didn't want to work from home, so will just have to stick with it. Just waiting for all of the impending price hikes as the retailers start to milk it and for the roads to become clogged with olympic oficial idiots swanning around. Quite frankly they can take their olympics and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Bah humbug enough?

Its a start Jim

Oddly..........:)........I couldn`t give a damn about the London Olympics.

Quite frankly they can take their olympics and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Is that near Stratford? in which case your wish has been granted.

I quite enjoy the actually olympics - i just wish it was happening in paris , or indeed outer mongolia anywhere other than the uk , that way we wouldnt be spunking huge wads of cash that we can't really afford on crap we don't need

seems a massive waste of money to me, and has Al-Qaeda spectacular written on it in incredibly large and bright letters, given the olympic village is near as dammit on the final approach into LHR when landing on runway 27R. (or whilst in a holding pattern on approach)...

On a brighter note - only realised what the thing off the M11 nr junction 5 was the other day - Olympic Park Logistics Centre. D'oh!

I didn't realise that logistics was an Olympic sport
and needed a park

:p

Maybe we should have a new sport.... screwed up P45 throwing. That's what all those people in the 'new jobs created by the Olympics' will need in a years time.

Such a transient waste of money. Dare I mention 'the dome'?

this is exactly what I mean!! :agree:

Living up North in Cheshire, couldn't really give a crap about the games. It's very clearly the London Olympics. Nothing to do with with us! :exit::D

Other than being in Lancashire (actually it's really Yorkshire but they moved the border a few years back) I couldn't agree more!

:plusone:

I live about 45 miles North of London
and also hope that it doesn't come this far North,
Though checking the "torch" thread seems the flameing Nora
will actually pass withing a few hundred yards of me.

Best man's niece is one of the 7000 Olympic torch bearers, and also a bit into photography. I have offered her a 70-200 2.8 L if she drops it and the flame goes out.....

:lol::lol::lol:

I was just looking up the projected costs as of now compared to the initial bid estimate, and it's confusing as Hell!

I won't even bother quoting figures because I doubt anyone has a clue in reality! I guess it all depends on how cynical / skeptical you are?

Official figures are in and officially it cost more than we can afford. But ho hum, have to pretend to the world that we are a great economy still. Just like my continued purchasing of photo equipment doesn't make me any better but I can pretend too. Smiley face.

just going on holiday for the whole thing. Roads will be carnage with the cycling road race coming out through this part of London, and the publish public transport disruptions are a joke

Does anyone have any spare tickets?

yep , i'm just waiting for the ink to dry , then i'm going to make a killing on ebay. Photoshop is a great thing

(for the hard of humour, that a joke so please don't report me to the olympic comittee anti counterfeiting hotline)

Came in budget and on time ;)

BUT, A diabolical waste of money and time, it only benefits London (and its the north that's taking the hits) and from other sources has already rocketed already expensive areas to live even higher...

BAH HUMBUG¬!
