I've done a search but can't see an answer - however I'm assuming this has been covered (a lot) before.

I now have a film camera. I now have a roll of 35mm b/w film that's very nearly finished.

Who are the best people - either mail order or drop-off/collect in central London (or south Bucks) - to get this developed by (and ideally scanned onto a CD)? At the minute price rather than 'quality' is more of an issue as this is a learning curve for me and I imagine it's going to be pretty steep.

Thanks in advance - and sorry for such a dull question.

A few years ago Snappy Snaps won a poll for stores, and Club35 for mail order. At the time, the better known high street and mail order processors were awful for scanning. I hope they've improved.

Thanks for that photon - will look at Snappy Snaps as there's quite a few near where I work.

Snappy snaps charge round about £10 to dev and scan to CD IIRC. It's a reasonable service, the young lady in the Faringdon branch is particularly friendly and helpful. The Fleet St branch are ok but their scanning is a little careless in my experience.

and I was really impressed with Peak Imaging

I posted them on a Wednesday afternoon expecting to have to wait til after the weekend but they dropped onto my doormat bright and early Friday morning, that's what I call, service.
I only had them processed and the slides mounted so no printing or Cd creation necessary but at a cost of just over £5/roll including P&P I'd say that was excellent value and top service.

Cheaper still if you develop your own films, as David say's "buy a tank". Once you start developing your own films, you'll wonder why you paid someone else to do the job ;)

Nigel.

Developing my own isn't an option at the minute, sadly, for reasons of space, storage and marital stability but thanks for all the suggestions so far - very helpful!
