Not my photo but thought I'd let you guys know about a live webcam in Alaska that gives fantastic pics of the lights.

There will be extreme auroral activity this weekend, possibly visible in Northern UK.
Unfortunately I think the weather is going to scupper any chances of seeing them in Skye.
 
Same in Orkney. Even if the sky clears it'll be too windy to get any decent photos.
 
Useful site. Thanks for sharing. I'm heading to Iceland next month especially for the Northern Lights. Hoping to get some amazing shots.
 
Nice. Where abouts in Iceland are you heading and which northern trip are you doing, just a simple one from Reykjavik? I'm seriously looking at options at the moment.
 
Gonna start off in Reykjavik to explore for a few nights, before hiring a car to explore the sights all the way to Skaftafell without booking tours.

Hopefully will get some good advice from the hotels on the best locations for seeing the lights.

Easyjet are doing cheap flights to Iceland so you should definitely think about going!

Cheers. Went ten years ago and really want to go back. I'll have to start looking into it more.
 
I saw them in Norway in 1994. Jaw droppingly astonishing. No photograph I've ever seen has even come close to doing them justice.

If you ever have the chance of seeing them grab it with both hands.

Supposed to be the best time ever between now and April. I suppose I'd better get my finger out
 
Very strong activity at the moment. I can just about get a photo of a very faint glow from the outskirts of Newcastle so it may be visible with the naked eye further north if anyone has clear skies and can get out.
 
Just been told by friend on flight landing at gothenburg that it's visible here!! Just need the cloud to go away and get out the city!!

It's all over twitter if you live north of Yorkshire you've got a very good chance of seeing them! Until/if the Kp increases then it won't go any further south
 
the pictures are so amazing... thank you for sharing and I am new here..and New in photograhy so i hope I can learn many things in here... soo nice....
