The nicest camera I have seen in a long time...

Under rated camera, but then would I want to sell my two bodies and all my L lenses?

Nice looking camera. I'm not sure it's underrated , Pentax have always been respected for making great cameras. Pentax were actual responsible for a lot of innovations in SLRs

First Instant Return Mirror.

First Thru The Lens Metering (Spotmatic)

First Aperture Priority Mode Camera ((ME)

First Autofocus Lenses.

Pentax have never really been accepted as producers of pro SLRs though. They tried with the LX which was expensive, but a little quirky and not taken up by the pros and keen users as they hoped.

Pentax has a pretty good system of lenses and accessories behind it - better than most, but hardly on a par with Canon or Nikon and they don't build a pro quality body. Pentax medium format cameras is a different story though.

I like it Pete, but I can't get enthusiastic enough to chuck up my Canon gear for it. ;)

I think the Pentax range has suffered in recent years through lack of investment, the new K range is a step in the right direction but I don't think the K10 matches up to the 30D let alone the 40D. Shame I've owned two great Pentax film cameras in the past and would have loved to stay with the brand.

I would have to agree with you there. I started with Pentax before comming to Canon. If you like prime lenses then Pentax rocks. That FA 77 F1.8 limited is just about the best AF medium telephoto out there. The pentax system is just so much more compact and lighter then Canon.
