Yes
I have been more moved today than I thought I would be.

I am not a religious or overtly royalist person but this was so right.

I would appreciate it if this could remain a civil and respectful thread and an alternative thread be created for anything else please.

Absolutely amazing event, still watching it on route to Windsor, history, the Royals so dignified, yet faces etched in sorrow, in fact all faces etched with sorrow.

A bit of a shock to see the armed police walking alongside in Windsor, a necessary precaution though.

I did think the same, but that part of the road was very open with no cover and no crowds, they have probably been along the whole route, but in the crowds.

Ditto.

Whatever we think of the monarchy she was also a loved mother and family member.

I'm sure the mods will make the feelings of the management known where appropriate.

On the other hand, republicans and anarchists may hold different views to your own about the cost of the event.

I don't know the figures but I thought the pomp, circumstance and history was the cornerstone of our tourist industry, bringing in mucho ££££.

I can’t imagine the hours of practice that went into it.

I'm glad I didn't have a camera in my face for one of the worlds largest tv audiences at my mums funeral.

I am sure HRH The Queen requested that herself.

I can claim a connection to England, Wales and Ireland but watching this today will have me searching the family tree for a connection to Scotland.

Didn’t plan on watching much but have barely moved from TV all day. Unbelievable that with so many involved the day went without a hitch.
Same here, had a doze in the transition bit, but watched the rest

I can't remember the last time I had so many cups of tea.

I do wish the commentators had talked a little less though. Sometimes their interruptions were IMO unnecessary.

Coronation next.

I'm not sure too many of those with a moral compass care less. We're burying a great servant of 70 years.

Wasn’t Welby’s speech a dig at Johnson?
If it was a 'dig' it would apply across the board to all who are elected into high office.

Our Constitutional Monarchy may to some be archaic but the Queen has cemented it in ways we sometimes fail to appreciate.

Today's send off was both moving & wonderful and she will no doubt, even after her passing, represent a role model to all!

Well. France, Germany and Austria don't have their royal families anymore, and they don't exactly struggle on the tourism front. They have huge, impressive chateau and palaces which are open to the public, so I would suggest the tourists are not coming to see the people.

And I would disagree.

Any chance you could be on topic as per the original post please? This thread is about yesterdays historical event.

It was truly spectacular - although I did feel for Charles when they kept zooming on him.

Ran literally like clockwork!

I mentioned this in another thread. I think the tightly zoomed in shots of a man grieving were too intrusive. No matter what we think of the monarchy or the cost of it or the day I think we could perhaps all see and relate to and understand the personal grief of those close to the Queen. This close intrusion was for me something that perhaps could have been avoided or if the producers really couldn't resist and felt it necessary to show that human emotion perhaps they could have done it just the once and then switched to longer shots and left the people to grieve with at least a modicum of privacy.

i cant wait for the coronation, hopefully planned for early next summer, hopefully as many people stay in to watch it as the funeral

There is always one!!! If you dont like it simply dont watch or engage in said thread. I doubt the people posting in the football thread are football haters!!
Wouldn't that negate the whole purpose of a forum?

A forum is to bring people together, to hear other opinions, not to stand holding a big sign with the words "Only post if you agree with me!"
