The Girl in "that" Mary Ellen Mark shot.

I read this last week. Whilst I appreciate the story behind the image, I'm not sure we need the expose of how the subjects life has turned out.

This line from the text I felt particularly thought provoking.

"In any photographic encounter, the one person that always benefits and always is in a more powerful position and always knows more is the photographer."

I went to her seminar at the Photo show. I enjoyed her images and the film that followed. Very sorry to hear that she died just two months later on my birthday; I was choosing between her and another photographer for the presentation we would see and I am glad that I got my choice right this time. I was intrigued by many of her photos and wondered what had happened so I found reading the post very interesting; surprised she has made it to adulthood.
