The Flash Center - CHristmas D-Lite Kit

It's pretty good for the money. They've stripped the kit down to its bare essentials to get the price as low as possible.
This is a good thing, because they've left out their softboxes which frankly are useless, with most manufacturers it's better to buy softboxes separately and get ones that cost more and work better, and that are of a size that suits you anyway.

Elinchrom are a reliable make. The only downside, and a big one, is the cost of accessories (light modifiers). You might want to consider the Lencarta 2 head kit which includes a lot more, including a proper softbox, for a bit more money - the savings when you buy beauty dishes, softboxes etc will more than wipe out the extra cost of the lights.

Other popular choices are Bowens & Interfit.

Thanks Gary. The Lencarta is currently out of stock, and I couldn't find one anywhere else.

I have read some more and opted to go with the Interfit Venus 300 twin umbrella kit.

Got it for £300 delivered. Hope I made the right choice :)

Garry it may not be out of stock but their website is terrible, slow, not updated, a bit higgledy piggledy, maybe this is not helping sales!

I agree, good products and a bad website don't go well together, they need to sort it out

Are the Lencarta softboxes good quality because as you said the prices website prices are much cheap than other manufacturers.

I also found the 120 octabox on ebay for £50

Don't know how much I can help with this. The folding softboxes (real softboxes that fold down to an umbrella, not umbrellas fitted with a diffuser) are excellent. I've tested 3 of them. The ones sold on Ebay are nowhere near as good. I haven't tested any of the others on the website yet.

It says out of stock when you try to order it?

I dunno if I'm happy with my choice, I don't know enough about lights to know what makes them good or bad to be honest. Like I said, I'm a complete newbie.

I can only hope what I've bought represents good value for money.

A lof of people seem to be happy with Interfit. It will get you started, and it takes Bowens S-fit accessories so you will be able to get upgrade easily. I am concerned though that you may have paid too much - I did a quick search and found them a lot cheaper

Id just like to add that i have the Lencarta 3 head kit, purchased from fleabay about 10 mths ago or so.

Absolutely nothing to complain about from me, sure I`m no pro but to me it was far better value for money than other budget kits currently available.
Everything seems to be well made and sturdy.

Having said that, Ive only used it once and just dont have the time any more so its gonna sit in its box on top of the wardrobe, I`ll get it out again in 5 years time and give you an update :-)

Just wish i had the spare time that i had before owning all this fab eqiupment, typical isnt it lol !!
