Forgetting all the digital nonsense, publishing stuff and license sales. What is going to happen to the future of film and chemical supplies.

Apparently the company that has just taken over Kodak are specialists in asset stripping:eek:

You know something that the major media outlets don't about Kodak being bought out? They've sold their imaging sensor division (to Platinum Equity) and are trying to sell their online photo sharing business and some patents.

Not heard about anything else.

Probably a ruthless VC firm, they'll have it stripped and sold in no time.

Oh dear :(

They have also come out in the past few days and stated that their film business is actually making money.

Apparently Platinum Equity are not known for asset stripping and the rumour is that they want to make the business work.

Its only the sensor division that they've sold along with 10% of the patents that they own on digital camera technology.

Kodak is just trying to restructure to better adapt to what the mass consumer wants now that they've lost their biggest customers as few people use film for holiday snaps etc. In the end it'll all settle down and hopefully they can try and capture that market again with digital along with film products.

News about Kodak - 2% truth, 98% rumour at the moment. Every little tidbit of news gets ripped to shreds and overanalysed, it is getting tiring!

Only news on Kodak front I have is that we are now selling Kodak branded batteries in a 10 pack costing £1.15.

It should be pointed out though that its not set in stone that their going to go bankrupt, they just need to find a buyer for their patents and then that can be averted.

It's pretty safe to say that a Chapter 11 bankruptcy is a distinct possibility for Kodak. Why would anyone buy the patents/assets now when they could pick them up at a discount in a liquidation. I hope another film maker buys the film division and complements their existing lineup so that Kodak films aren't permanently lost.
