The "Dark Hoodie"

As a follow up to my other post, this is my progress so far with the Patent Pending, "Dark Hoodie" ;0)

This is basically a tube made up of two layers. The outer layer can be any colour and is standard hoodie fleece material, the inner layer is thin blackout material. There are 2 strips of self adhesive magnet inside a c-shaped seam which goes over the edge of the original hood on your top and locks around it. There are then 2 more strips of magnet on the bottom edge so it can be clicked together to form a complete light-tight tube with a drawstring opening that closes around the rear of the camera.

I'm estimating around 14" total length so you're not too close to the ground glass with an end diameter of around 12" to go around the camera but that can be adjusted to test it out.

The idea is that when you don't need it, it stays attached to the original hood of your hoodie and can be left inside the hood when it's on your back. When you want to focus, pull your hood up, extend the material tube and pull the drawstring tight around the camera :0)
 
Mental... just absolutely mental. But also brilliant. :D However I don't think it would suit all large formateers, if you could invent an extending trilby, that might be better. :naughty:

You're over thinking it....
 
Not the first time someone's said that ;0)

I've just redesigned it slightly in my head to remove the bottom magnetic strips so it can be made as a solid tube bar a section on the bottom to allow it to go around your neck. The magnetic seam at one end attaches it to the hoodie and the drawstring at the other to tighten around the camera. When not in use it would basically look like a scarf.

I realise that a rectangular cloth is as simple as it gets but watching some of the large-formateers holding on to their cloths in the wind and Carl doing his Superman in wellies impression at the bottom of a waterfall I figure one less item to carry and keep track of is a benefit!

Oh yeah, someone got there first! $60 is a bit steep though isn't it. I've just thought about dropping the magnetic seam entirely and basically build the hood shape into the tube so it's a single piece that can be worn without needing a hoody.

I reckon it could be made much more cheaply than that btzs version though and look less like a mozzie net :0)

$60 really is pushing it, though I think it uses fairly clever materials and lets face its about as niche a market as you'll get these days.

Amazingly the Ebony All Weather focusing cloth from the same site is $260!!!!!
