Well, it looks like this is the month. The D300 has finally got me in it's sights, and aims to have me bought this weekend.

I'm looking forward to being owned by it, especially as it's promised me a Sigma 10-20mm at the same time;)

I am trying to resist buying a D300 but perhaps as The Borg say "Resistance is futile"!

I`m afraid I was distracted in town last week and got snatched up by a passing D300. It then made me buy it a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and it is currently nagging me to get a Sigma 10-20.
Darn these cameras, they are the devils work...:naughty:

guilty!

I bought one last bank holiday monday too and now it's made me buy an sb800 too... yikes. bye bye money :( but there again, hello awesome camera! :D

Some american guys came into jessops the other day looking to buy a DSLR with not really much of a clue about anything but more money than they knew what to do with, and one of my colleagues was telling them about the D300.
The American guys turned to me and asked what was so special about the D300.

I replied, "I'm a canon user, and I would buy a D300."

Well, the hope is that some of the money the D300 is extorting from me will be recouped when it's sibling goes off to a new home! Then I might be able to eat this month ;)

Its luring me in too after seeing a friends at the weekend

Just hope anyone coming to the Bluebell meet leaves their D300 at home!!!!

Resistance is futile it WILL get you in the end....

It got me alright - it's forcing me to Jessops in Aberdeen to collect it this morning!! I mean, making me leave work, travel 7 miles and THEN forcing me to hand over large sums of money...

Do you think I have a case against the D300 for extortion?

I blame all the sunny weather you've been having!

yawn what is so good that it makes grown men drool and drip/foam at the mouth?

must admit very tempting looking at spec and lack of movement on canon front at moment.

I'm currently on my fourth D300.
I do suggest focus tests as soon as you get one.
Asides that, it's a spectacular camera to use.

I had a play with a mate's D300 on the weekend, and must admit it is a sexy piece of kit. That screen is just awesome regardless of the rest of the actual camera.

I doubt I'll be switching to Nikon anytime soon though, just can't get my head (finger) around the main dial, what's it doing all the way down on the front of the grip? Makes me feel like I'm missing a joint in my finger when I try to use it. Some of the menus seem very convoluted as well, though that's probably more my being used to Canon's system.

Jamie.

I didn't realise my D300 owned me, Damn now i know why my bank balance keeps going down with all the relatives it keeps coming up with.

I really like mine and find it very intuitive to use (especially given the sheer number of variables it has) with the only thing that annoys me being the OK button is where my old 'zoom in' button used to be, so when I zoom in three or four times to check sharpness I tend to have just applied the default amount of D-Lighting instead!!! Gahh! But I'll get used to it. :)

Resitance if futile, they are the dogs danglies.....

Update: the D300 forced me to buy a Manfrotto 190XPROB and 460MG head as well... And the £30 I got knocked off by the manager will pay the parking ticket I got after dumping my car on the double-yellows to pick it all up!!!

Mine wants a tripod now, and I suppose it wont be happy with anything less than a 190XPROB and I am sure it mumbled something about a Hydrostat head, whatever that is!
Its already had a new bag because it said it was claustrophobic in the old one, a couple of new lenses ( it couldnt see properly through the old ones) and a complete Eclipse cleaning kit " to keep me fresh and young looking"
I suppose it will want CF card enhancements next!

I was dragged in off the street today by a D300, whole transaction from walking in parting with £1000 and walking out took less than 5 minutes, these D300s are evil I tell you
