I have a G10 and have to say it's the best compact camera I've ever used. It does a great job when switched to auto - so much so it's hard to take a bad picture.
A good example is my living room... We always struggle to get good pictures in here because of the low light (energy saving bulbs diffused with round cover all shades) but the G10 works a treat.
For those who want to play around there are plenty of customer settings...
I bought a G9 for work purposes, and persuaded a friend to get one too. Neither of them are used for anything majorly testing, but they seem excellent pieces of kit, from my/their experience.
I was torn between a G10 and an LX3. I went with the latter because I wanted a wider wide-angle (24mm on the LX3) and better ISO performance (you can't really use the G10 beyond ISO 400).
easy to use and you can take some great shots but very noisy above iso 400 would I buy this camera again if i had the choice?.... no...... I am considering selling it
I use a G10, it's a fantastic little camera. It's mainly used underwater but I often carry it round with me when the Nikon is feeling too heavy. I would wait for the G11 though.
The only problem I get with my G10 is its disposition for blowing detail the highlights - easy enough to get around generally but you need to be aware. Other than that I think it's a good camera but has all disadvantages that most if not all point & shoots have - less than stellar performance in low light (high ISO settings).
G10 is a good pocket camera and I agree with ISO 400 or above no use at all, good though and if G11 is coming out this usually means a price crash for the model before.
