I'm sure this has been done on TP before, but I'm intrigued to see what pops up in here. So, what, in your opinion, is the best photo you've ever taken? If you want to explain why you think it's so good, feel free :). I'm not really envisaging any C&C in this thread, just a place for TP members to show off their best work.

I'll start the ball rolling with this:

Easily the best shot I've taken so far. It's sharp, has good motion blur, and there is so much action going on. The bike is doing around 105mph at this point, and the barrier isn't that far from the track on the exit of Druids at Oulton Park. Proper, on the limit riding.

Edit: Hopefully we're all out taking photos pretty regularly here, so I appreciate people's 'best shot ever' will change with time. When you get a new favourite, stick it in here.

Has to be this portrait I took of my wife. I like it because mainly it's my wife.

I just love the depth of field and the heels in the background. It was also taken with just the camera and a single off camera flash in my bedroom which makes a terrible studio so I'm really pleased with how it came out.

Highland Cattle from a memorable trip to Scotland last week, I've got a long way to go but feel I'm getting somewhere (slowly!).

heres mine:

love the photo because i had an hour at the corner before the cars and no one could understand why i was walking round taking photo's of the corner. I was walking round thinking about the shot i wanted to get, then the safety car came through and the fading sun lit up the dust!!

alot of people won't like the tape, but hey ho, i haven't got any processing software so it's staying for now.

image is straight off the camera, just resized for here!!

regards

Landscapes & wildlife are my passion.
I felt lucky to be able to close to this fantastic creature without disturbing it.

not sure if this won't get moved to 'fluffy kittens and cotton wool' but here's one of mine. Chose this one for the angle and Kio sat up.

Difficult to choose, but as far as bird shots go, I'm quite fond of this one.

This was the first photo I took that got me really excited. My 350D was about ten months old, but had only been taking proper gig shots for four months at the time I caught this.

This one is still my favourite as it started out as nothing but a shot of a model (1.72) and ended up like this

Probably this one of the pigeon detectives. I pretty much just stood and waited for this shot and forgot about everything else happening on stage until I captured it.

This is such a hard one! There's two for me (well three but the third was taken with a phone so the quality is nowhere near as good :()...... so my two are these...

Taken from the offices of the (now long since gone) Beans foundry in the West midlands and looking along the roof valleys towards the main foundry structure in the background, which had been a local landmark and clearly visible for years

the second is my constant companion Jess, whose patience while I'm trying out new ideas and settings, is second to none..

I've taken well over 20,000 photos now so I have no idea which is the best.

A couple I like right now are:

except the hair over her arm...

A wee bit blown in places but I like the shadows,

The brown colour was due to a sandstorm blowing in from Mongolia - this was one of the first pictures I ever took and was partially responsible for my interest in photgraphy.

Threads like this are difficult. It's like being asked "What's your favourite album ?" I guess it changes by your mood or style at the time.

Here are a couple of recent ones. Ask me next week and they would have changed:D

Taken when I got "snowed in" :p

Both shots taken for last years POTY comp.

Either this shot of my car, which I took about three nights to get right (including climbing the lamp post to put a bin bag over the light to cut down the yellow light).

Or this one or a local drinker

Difficult to decide which I feel is my best, in fact I don't have a single fav as there are too many categories to choose from, but as far as portraits go, I'd guess this is one of my favs.

The incredibly blummin annoying thing about mine is that it was a almost entirely a blummin accident - I was just messing about with the settings on my camera, and took this through the train window:

This is impossibly hard, 'cos I take lots of different photos and it's hard to compare a landscape to a portrait... If I could only have one though, I think it would probably be this one below, 'cos there's actually not really anything I'd change about it.

This one and this one would run it a very, very close second though, they just both have things I'm not *quite* happy with.

Ah Mr Williams - always with the excellant car shots

CT's bird shot is stunning

Dangermouse, if that really was of a model then you've done a fine piece of PP. I'd expect to see that as a painting hanging in a RAF officers mess.

Trappe - that car shot is stunning. Where's the beach, somewhere on the gower?

There are some great shots on here!
Here is my favorite, mainly due to the ridicules amount of time I have put into this bird and I doubt I will get this lucky again, more on blog.

This is one of my favourites, simply because I like the subject and the lighting on her plumage which is generally wet and a bit dowdy.

This had always stuck in my mind as my favourite picture for some reason, I think it's because it was one of the first pictures I took when I first had my 400D, and it gave me a fair bit of confidence that I was on the right track. Still haven't doen any editing to it, would kinda like to put a border around it.

I guess this one. It may not be the most technically perfect photo but it captured the essence of my son perfectly.

for non people it definitely has to be this one.

Im not sure what my best photo is to be honest... and I only have my travel stuff on flickr at the mo... im now going to try and pick something quickley but I bet its a strugle!

3272664805_1410568d46.jpg

OK... there is so many others I could have picked but I guess I chose this as it looked at me for a split second before it then headed off into the trees!

Im not sure I actually have one...

This is one of my favs I think the reason I like it so much is because it was so simple to set up I just drove down my local pier and opened the door and set up the tripod and that was it.I also have this printed big and framed in my hallway

Interesting to note that hardly anybody has posted camera/lens etc, which shows how irrelevant that is to great photography. And some are not technically perfect either, which shows how unimportant that can be, too.

What matters is the subject!
