That soft, bleached look

I love the look of these - but am having trouble trying to duplicate the effect in Lightroom 4 (I have PS Elements as well, if required). Could anyone help?

It's sort of a vintage look, but not quite - and looks excellent (or would) on some London street protraits...

Only the top one opens for me. Thats sort of backlit (rear left) and looks a bit like one of the paint the moon actions, or similar. A lot of the effect is in getting the right lighting to start with.

Have a look at the presets to be found for free at www.lightroomkillertips.com

I seem to remember finding one or two on there that may help you achieve the effect you want.

The youtube video was very helpful, thanks Dan, but I think he ruined his shot with the tone curve adjustments. Each to their own, though.

You'll need the lighting though.. the heavy backlighting reduces contrast and gives this effect. The colour is post process, but without the lighting you'll not get it.

I recently downloaded some "fashion" lightroom pre-sets that do a similar thing (free ones), just cant remember where from.

A quick google shows some similar freebies.
