In the short time I've been a member of this forum - I've seen some stunning photos, been given some good advice and also been given the opportunity to pass on some of the experiences I've had as a photographer. I've enjoyed some light hearted banter (Canon vs Nikon) - some great jokes - and some cool advice on insurance, places to buy, avoid and shoot and also advice on good websites, and many other topics.

now the question is how does a forum become a good forum? I've joined several other forums, to see how they compare one of which, never seems to amaze me with the silly questions (I dropped my camera - why did it break?) only to be matched by silly answers (the best way to drop a canon camera is like this...)

i can see that the forum is growing
"The most members on-line in one day was 897, 12-02-2008."
so any thoughts as to what we can all do to keep it good?

not being funny or anything.. but why are you looking for ways to fix something thats working ? hit the donate button and keep taking part... simple innit :)

What was the consensus on the best way to drop the camera, by the way?

Its all about politeness ... its like a glade of decency within a world of spite and greed.

Like one of our rules:
Criticise the post, don't criticise the poster.

Its always been this good, its the reason I joined and probably the reason most join.

Thankfully members like Sportysnaps writing posts like this remind us to remind ourselves.

Hoorah for TP. :D

Much appreciate this post - it's nice to see we're still on the right track.

What we have to do as we grow is encourage people to contribute - as we get bigger there are only so many posts the staff and the stalwarts who always tend to comment, can respond to. If more people take the time to comment on a pic or two it eases the burden considerably on everyone.

The biggest thing is to stay friendly, polite and helpful and we wont go too far wrong. :)

What CT said :) Also, please remember to keep on reporting posts you think are out of line with what the forum is trying to be, it makes our lives so much easier, we can't be in all sections all the time

I didnt reply to the sentiments of the post.. just the line that seemed to be asking for how we keep it going... TP works, its great.. so why the need to fix it? I also stand by my original answer because I think its a good one. Hopefully no one has read anything else into my response ? :)
