Leaving the forum now folks. My life's moved on and photography has taken a back seat to my personal life. me and tuther half are moving to scotland. It's been fun and it was great knowing most of you lol. Have fun be good.

Don't they have the internet where you're going then?

You're moving to one of the most beautiful areas of the country and photography is taking a back seat....... :D

Ahhhh!! excellent choice, moving to Scotland that is....:D Let me be the first to welcome you and your tuther half :)

keep the camera you will love the hills and glens and welcome to bonnie scotland

Best of luck with the new life, the forums are not going anywhere so you'll know where to find them again.

Wishing you all the best for the future.

Can't understand why you would want to sell the camera and leave the forum though.

Don't burn your bridges with the photography.

I chucked my photography back in the early 90s

I then moved to Scotland in the mid 90s and the photography soon came back.

He has got a point Scott, he did not give a Rats Arse when I nearly dropped down the other week

All the best anyhow

Rules say no goodbye posts, so you'll have to post something again now :)

:snigger:

Pull doors on a strong closer.
Someone leaving in high dudgeon.
"Hey, Steve!" (Not his real name!)
He stops, almost all the way through the doorway and turns...
Yup, the door slammed in his face!

Cheers, Scott, don't be a stranger - OOF isn't all photographic, just somewhere that people with an interest in snapping shoot the breeze!

I really can't see anything wrong with farewell threads, if they're just to say "I'm moving on, goodbye and thanks guys". There are a number of legitimate reasons why somone might want to say farewell - lost interest in photography, moving abroad and starting a new life, or just don't want to be part of the community any more - but would like to say goodbye instead of just disappearing into the internet abyss. I suppose the problem is goodbye rants, which would probably provoke a row and take up more mod time intervening and closing them?

Anyway, I know it's against the rules to discuss mods decisions publicy. I'm not so sure about this topic, but the thread doesn't seem to have attracted any criticism so I'll take a chance and post this.

I see this as a courteous "So long and thanks for all the fish" type goodbye. I think the rule refers to the kind of dummy spit we sometimes see.

So you're allowing farewell threads now?

Yes, the rules say no goodbye threads but it is pretty much aimed at the one posted for more, shall we say, contentious reasons. Sometimes it's more about the spirit of the rules rather than the rules themselves.

good luck Scott.. i am sure you will be back sometime soon...

I'll turn you off or at least knock yer lights oot:razz:;)

can we expect lots of camera gear for sale cheap ?

(mercenary , me ? )

Well good luck and hope things go well.
I agree that saying farewell is always polite and nice and keeps it all open for hello i'm back again.

Scotland such lovely scenery fabulous walks

I heard that border control were stepping up their patrols (annomous tip of etc)!
Us Jocks dinnae want annae o' your lot up here

Best of luck, what part of Scotland are you moving to?

No that was Chris (cobra)

Priceless!

So long, Scott. Good luck with the move and all the best.

I don't see why it's priceless. Every single leaving thread that I've seen prior to this one has been stamped on. :)

However if the rules are being relaxed, as Marc suggested, I reckon that's a good thing.

It may cause some problems in the future though!

A long term member posts a well meaning goodbye thread and you pull the mods up on their own forum rules without even wishing the guy luck.

That is definitely priceless! :D

I suspect it's more the fact that "good bye" threads as outlawed in the rules generally refers to the full force toys out of the pram threads ;) that are still well an truly against the rules  threads that insults either/and the members, staff or forum will still be stamped on with Matty's sizeable DocMartins :D

At least that's my interpretation of Marc's comments

Indeed twas me, and bloody hard work getting back outta there too :D

Curiously Scotts been on line today,
