I recently picked up a Ricoh FF70 cheaply - it's a point and shoot 35mm, fully automatic

Here's a couple of the results with Kodak ColorPlus 200 (cheapest film I have available):

(The last shot was converted to B&W in Flickr)

I think the results are good - it copes with low light well and seems to set exposure well in mixed light conditions. However it does have a problem....

24 exp roll - 12 shots came out blank.... the winding mechanism seemed to go a bit haywire and just fast-forward 4 exposures instead of 1!

I'm tempted to give it another run through in case it was just down to low powered batteries or not being used for a few years (the batteries in the camera expired in 1999, so it can't have been used since then!)

With results like that, I'd be very tempted to have another go.

If there is a film advance issue then it's a shame as the camera produces good photos.

Personally I would simply use a cheapish film and chance only getting half a roll out of it...

I've just run an old roll of film through a few times and it seems to be behaving, but the batteries died pretty quickly and that seems to be what's doing it. I'll have to pick up some decent AAs and see. I think when the batteries start to die the camera 'forgets' where it was and thinks it's winding a new roll... or something like that!

Try some Lithium AAs....not particularly cheap but they work!

I've put bog standard cells in cameras before and they either don't last two mins or the certain things don't operate correctly.

Good results, shame about the winder problem.
