Hi all...

If you've been reading my other post its all getting a bit confused and I think my one main issue that im still unclear about is the benefits of buying a L series telephoto.

Im considering the following options

1. Keep my Canon 75-300mm f4-5.6IS
2. Buy 100-400 L series
3. Buy 70-200 f2.8IS + 2x Converter

I should say... I want to do more nature photography and any i've done with my existing lens i've always wished I could zoom in a little more... I love the lightweight nature of the 75-300mm as I do alot of travel photography... The 100-400 obviously would be an optical step up... but it seems a monster weight wise... is it possible to hand hold in most situations???... option 3 to me is expensive and seems complicated... but at the same time i get a cracking lens and the 70-200 lone option would be usefull too...

What are your thoughts... I only do photography as a hobby and whilst I want cracking shots is buying the L series options going to be that much of a benefit... or do I just stick with what i've got and use the cash on other things... including a new tripod etc... got a velbon sherpa700... is that good enough... feel its a bit light at times...

I have toyed with this for months now... I need people to tell me the truth about what im thinking even if it seems cruel... If I have everything else right will the L series actually shine compaired to the pics I get from my 75-300mm

I have the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and a 2X teleconverter and I love it!

You get a cracking lens up to 200mm and an as good as most stuff out there at 400mm! I just wish they did a 3X teleconverter!

Just my vote - I like the flexibility.

Basically, the glass is probably the most important part of anyone's kit, so the better the lenses you invest in, the higher the quality of the image, technically anyway! 'L' lenses hold their value very well and are always in demand, well with Canon users they are!
Only you can decide if the difference in quality is worth it to you.
