Tele Zoom lens.....what to go for

Anything to purchase a Tele zoom for my Sony A350 without breaking the bank, using on a trip to Dubai to follow the cricket and waiting take some shots in the ground. Will a 300mm telephoto suffice or will I need bigger?? Plus any lens recommendations ?.

Depends how close the action you want to get. 300mm might be a little on the short side if you want close up action. As for lenses, what's your budget? depends what you mean but not breaking the bank.

Sony has the budget 75-300mm and 70-300mm lenses for around £190 and £340 respectively, would get you started and offering from sigma and tamron for around the same prices.

Sony also has the 70-300mm G series lens for around £700 and their 70-400mm lens for around £1500.

On the other hand you could look at sigma's 120-400mm, 150-500mm, 50-500mm lenses or tamron's 200-500mm lens all around the £750-1200 range. It depends on your budget and don't for get weight allowance for hand luggage.

My FIL has one and really likes it, gets very good results it and if you can afford the high price, it's well worth it
