Yes
Im on a D90 so im a nikon but im looking at canon because there so much cheaper? anyone feel the same?

nope ...i started with nikon and always been happy with the gear :D

I tend to think people stick with the cameras they start off with. Iv always had canon and iv enjoyed using them. What i like is the menu is almost identical on all models so there no going back to the drawing board and learning again.

Team Canon for me.

What makes you say they are cheaper?

Obviously a bottom end Canon is cheaper than a mid range Nikon, but they are not that far apart on a like for like.

Generally Canon & Nikon systems are much the same, occasionally one is marginally better/cheaper for a few months, but the other usually catches up/jumps ahead.

Unless you are going to be replacing all of your kit anyway swapping systems is going to be expensive.

Started with Nikon film SLRs back in Nineteen canteen. Got intoin digital with Pentax K20d. Fine camera, but I could not get fully comfortable with it so went back to Nikon. Nikon bayonet turns anti-clockwise to lock and could not get used to doing the opposite.

As Matthew indicated the first camera tends to form the mould.

its a bit like asking team BMW or team Bently
Both get you from A to B , its how you like the journey!

I'm a Canon kind of guy, but have been known to get a bit Nikon-curious at times!

Buy NIKON
Push the demand and prices of Canon down so I can benefit :D

I`m firmly in "Team WGAF".............

started with a canon and the only reason i'm canon loyal is i have too much invested in kit/lens',

I try to stay away from Nikon all together, purely incase i see something i really like! couldn't justify swapping over so i don't even look!

Been with Nikon since I bought an FA back in 1986(ish)

Abbreviating shutter to Tv instead of S is just plain odd... plus I like the wee red bit on the grip :)

I'm Canon 'cos I like having a red ring :exit:

I went from pentax to canon about ten years back - I was quite tempted to jump to nikon when the D3 came out but as i couldnt afford it anyway I stayed with canon.

at the end of the day its just a tool of the trade but i can't see changing all my gear for a marginal widget or tweak ( I'f i could afford a digital back for my mamiya 645 i might well go that way but as i can't... )

I'm Team Nikon digital, but Team Canon film.

Double agent. Makes me feel all James Bondy and sexy.

Nikon tend to be better cameras and easier to use. I find Canon cameras clunky and awkward.

Objection your honour. Purely subjective and irrelevant to the OP. Please be aware, can open, worms everywhere

Hi

i have used both and now with nikon. It is down to personal preference and both make good cameras/lenses.

This could go on for some time!

For what it's worth I'm in the Nikon camp and can't see me moving away from it. For me the Nikon looked more user friendly from a beginners point of view and now I've got all Nikon gear there is no way I'll ever swap.

I've corrected your spelling for you ;)

Im from the olympus camp so look at the nikon, canon argument with folded arms chuckling away to myself. However! I scorn olympus for the four thirds system on their digital slr cameras, even though the evolution of the pen series and the amazing new om-d em5 has come from it. But i still love my e3
So viewing the whole battle of the giants from the outside i can be non biased. My brother is a nikon user, just got himself a d3 and for years that level of camera has been nikon for the win hands down.
For the more prosumer models i can't differentiate between any of them. They all hold the same value Im terms of function and user friendliness. However, canon are known for being a more open platform regarding their OS and very clever hackers have used this to their advantage to boost the functionality of some models with the main one being the magic lantern firmware upgrade. Now while have never used canon i cannot say if this is a good or bad thing but being able to expand the performance of anything is a bonus in my opinion. Even if it is from a third party.

Nikon/Canon, BMW/Mercedes, Intel/AMD, Suzuki/Honda, Subaru/Mitsubishi...

I treat them all equally, it's only a brand name game and doesn't make any difference to me. Just give me one that'll get the job done.

Ahhh but you wouldn't go on safari in a Honda civic and you wouldn't take a shogun to a track day

That's right, but not because of the brand. I don't think the same logic applies in your example.
