hi,
Love my wildlife (Nature) Photography only really getting back into my photography last year and hoping to get out and about much more in 2025 once the kids finally get out the Taxi dad mindset.

does anyone set themselves projects / target Species for the year and just focus on them or more let's just see what appears when you'r out.

Personally really love birds of prey (Short eared owls, Sparrow hawks, Ospreys and Buzzards), Pine Martins (So far not got any images of these but hopefully today they appear) and Kingfishers.

Kingfishers here, so obsessed with them, I went and got a Sched 1 licence. They take up a lot of my spare time for not a lot of return....... but I love it.

I do though enjoy a break from them sporadically over the year and I also like photographing Damsel and Dragonflies. So KFs and the flies are my targets but it's suprising what comes along during a vigil and if I can, I will photograph that too. I got a nice Stoat a couple of months ago, I never set out to photograph it but it presented itself and I photographed it.

I also have a permanent hide set up for the local wildlife but I don't spend as much time in that nowadays.

Off tangent, I love landscapes too but that's best during the autumn and winter months.

I am partial for lurid birds like kingfishers, bee eaters, chaffinches etc etc

But I'll mostly shoot anything other than pigeons, gulls and crows.

I was lucky enough to have a good few sessions photographing our local Kingfisher. It was very addictive though and the pond never really worked for light of background separation. I don't have the time to do much more than I did though and may consider it on retiring in a few years. My target for the summer is a good Swallow image or set of images. Their journey fascinates me and they are also very beautiful and so agile.

Yup brown hare and also have a soft spot for Roe ( and fallow if bonkers wild). I do make SEO images most years have huge spats with foxes and would make images of preddy much anything in nature...but the hare and roe I am besottted with.

I think going back over and over and over has been really good for me.......I think much deeper about bkg's pov etc than I did.and possibly have learnt more about how to get in and get piccies.I sort of work with then now.which also means if lucky I make more pics.

So yeah focus a while go back lots and honestly I think there is alearning curve to be had which hopefully will fold back into other species (y)
