I'm fortunate to be going on a Tanzania holiday which will include a 3 day safari to Ngorogoro crater and Lake Manyara national park. Taking R6 ii with RF 100-500 and 28-70 2.8, anyone done a similar trip? if so any other lens you might recommend hiring to take?

The RF100-500 is now my 'go to' safari lens, this allied to the 27-70 has got things covered IMHO.

You can always take more kit, but other than perhaps a second body and a flash (for infill IF the guide and other people in your vehicle are happy for you to use it - ask each and every time!) I think you are fine.

……another body. You don’t want to be changing lenses in the field- lost opportunity and DUST.
The disposable shower caps found in hotel rooms make for cheap lens covers easily removed!
Enjoy your trip

Take some decent* binoculars with you.

*we have a pair of these for general uses and serve well as a minimum in terms of optical quality:

Opticron Explorer 8x42 WA ED-R Roof Prism Binoculars

We each took Swarovski binoculars (SLC HD 8x42 and EL SV 8.5x42) to Zambia (and on many other trips) and they are just excellent, but rather steep price wise.
