What's the general consensus on this wee beastie?

Thinking about picking one up to go with my nikon d7000. I'll be going 2nd hand so I suppose there's no great loss if I end up selling it on. Watched a few reviews and it's positive but thought I'd run it past you folks before biting the bullet. Anyone using one just now?

The VC one, to be clear.

Great lens for the money - not used with Nikon but I had the Canon version when using DSLR and you'd have to pay out a lot more to get similar IQ at this focal range.
Bang for buck it's one of the best.

Great lens, the VC is better than the Nikon version, I recently sold mine only because I went for a 70-200 VC 2.8 or without a doubt I would of kept it.

I had the Nikon version and this at the same time. IQ wise I doubt you would be able to tell the difference. The VC on the Tamron was better than the VR on the Nikon though but I did find the Nikon locked focus quicker and held it better where the background was "messy".
For the difference in price between the 2 though, the Tamron is very hard to beat.

I've had one for a few years now, and it does everything I need from it, very happy with it. I mostly use it for shooting people, often head shots from a distance, it performs very well. Used on a crop sensor Nikon D7100 for the reach.

Canon user here - great from 70-280mm lengths at all f stops then the IQ degrades at the long end wide open - stopping down to f7.1/f8 on mine then makes it sharp again at 280-300mm.
