Tamron Lenses

I have just ordered two new lenses from an american company called Opteka.

28mm - 80mm Telephoto and a 75mm - 300mm.
The question I wished I asked first is
Are these lenses any good?

There is a very respectable shop in Holborn London which claims these are on a par with the Sigma lenses of the same size.

I looked on the thread about lens comparison but can not see mine listed?

If these are Opteka branded lenses then almost certainly they are poor quality, if Tamron branded then you should be ok. Tamron lenses are on a par with Sigma but Opteka specialise in cheap low end lenses, usually add-on lenses for compacts.

Is this the dealer 'Opteka' from ebay?

If so they also supply lenses made by Tamron and Sigma and the Tamron lenses are on par with Sigma.

You shouldn't need to worry but might get bumped by customs... ouch

According to the Opteka website , they don't do 28-90 or 75-300 lenses, so I guess they're Tamron or Sigma.

Tamron lenses are great... they don't feel or look very exotic but the results are blinding imo.
