Hi all,i am after a bit of information regarding aTamron SP 60-300 3.8-5.4 zoom lens which i have the chance of buying.
Does this lens use one of tamrons adaptall mounts or is there another type of mount.
i hope to be using it with an olympus e520 which is a 4/3 system.

Any info will be much appreciated

Phil

The 60-300 is a lovely lens, extremely sharp. It's heavy though, but you will get the iq from it.

It's an adaptall mount, so just choose an adaptall mount for something that you already have an adapter for (e.g. get an m42 mount if you have an m42-4/3rd adapter). One thing to watch out for is that some adaptall adapters (e.g. the Pentax one that passes aperture information to the body) are expensive, so it's still worth taking 5 mins to explore the possibilities of a cheap adapter and the corresponding m4/3rds adapter. It'll be manual everything, but should give good results.

Thanks for the info Brian,
The lens i am looking at doesn't have a mount on it at the moment so i will just get the olympus 4/3 mount for it.
I have heard good things about these lenses, thats why i am hoping to grab this bargain if i can !!!!

Is there an olympus 4/3 mount in adaptall? I'd be surprised if there was - the system predates the 4/3rd system (unless a chinese company is doing them cheaply). However, if you have the OM-4/3rd adapter with your camera, then the OM adaptall mounts are pretty cheap. When I had mine I also followed this advice for a tripod adapter:
http://forum.mflenses.com/is-there-such-thing-as-a-tripod-mount-adapter-t23282,start,15.html
The lens is definitely too heavy to want to mount on a 4/3rds camera and then mount the camera itself on a tripod.

Please don't think that the lens will be a lot of hassle - I still miss mine, it was a lovely lens... Here's a quick shot at 135mm:

Thanks for posting the picture brian, i am more convinced than ever that this will be a good addition to my lens set.
The mount i have been looking at does not allow autofocus but i am not to bothered about that as i am quite used to manual focus lenses anyway....it's no great hardship.
The advice about getting a tripod mount is a very valid point.....glad you pointed it out, i don't think the camera will appreciate a big old lens hanging off the mount !!! lol

Hi, I've got both an OM and a Pentax K Adaptall mount for sale in the classifieds here if you're interested?

Cheers
Steve
