Hi,new member here.
My camera is a Nikon d3200 and I have managed to get an adapter so I can mount my old Tamron 70-210 mm lens on it.
I was recently given another old Tamron lens which is a 70-250 and I thought I'd be able to use the same adapter on this lens, but it's a totally different size.
Can anyone advise.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Suki and welcome to TP

I am not a Nikon user but.................

An adaptor is used to connect (mount) a lens of one camera make mount to another i.e. in your case the adaptor is designed to fit your Nikon D3200 but what mount fitting is the other end of the adaptor designed for???

Therefore, what mount does your first Tamron (70-210mm) have and as such what mount does the 70-250mm have??? Based on what you are saying the two Tamron lenses that you have were originally for different camera brands hence the adaptor is incorrect for the second lens!

HTH perhaps.

PS if you can give full details (markings on them and any other info you have to hand) of the adaptor and the two lenses that will help more feedback and advice for you ;)

Edit ~ I have Googled for Tamron 70-250mm and nothing comes up :thinking::thinking:

Some Tamron lenses have Adaptall 2 mounts - they made one lens, and a dedicated adapter for each system. Others are designed for a specific camera system, though they might be usable with third party adapters on other systems (usually with some loss of function like open aperture metering, and perhaps requiring extra lens elements). Perhaps if you posted some pictures of the mounts we could take a look?

There are three different ranges of Tamron lenses with interchaneable mounts. All you need to know is here: http://www.adaptall-2.com/

That site lists a couple of 75-250 lenses, which might be what Suki has. Both are Adaptall 2.

Hi guys and thanks for all your advice.
I finally realised what the problem was-the "new" lens already had another adaptor on it!Duh! When I realised after comparing the two lenses I took it off,and my adaptor fits perfectly!
Success!
Great site though and I'll definitely be a regular poster and user!
