I've just got a Nikon D7200 and would like a 70-300 lens for it but am unsure which would be best on it.
I've used the Tamron 70-300 VC version with Canon and was quite pleased with it but is the Nikkor AF-S 70-300 IF ED VR a better lens? Would I see a difference and if so with what?

Any help would be appreciated.

IME the Nikon was a little sharper at the long end... but the Tamron is dirt cheap.

Much of a muchness really.

I'd probably go Nikon as I absolutely loved mine when I shot Nikon and resale value is probably stronger but either would do very nicely, they are similar enough that sample to sample variation will probably be more of a factor than design and at that point you're really splitting hairs.

Thanks guys, pretty much what I thought but I just wanted to check before I make my final decision.

I’ve got the Tamron SP 70-300 vc,
Used it on my D3200 and now on my D7500
Great lens and the price isn’t too bad either,
Use it for my aircraft photography and it does very well

I use the Tamron on a D7200,no complaints with it at all, pick up a second hand one and not only will get a bargain you will probably get your Mooney back if you sell it on.
